Peter McKenzie (BCompSc) has over 30 years experience in the IT industry. He has extensive experience in the strategy, planning and delivery of IT services across multiple industries including:

Experience and Skills

Peter has a unique blend and breadth of skills and experience covering the full lifecycle of IT systems and service delivery from strategy, planning and design through to operations delivery and service decommissioning. He has worked for companies such as IBM, Honeywell, P&O Ports and Bovis Lend Lease and held roles in strategy, architecture, solution design and management, operations design and delivery as well as providing consultancy and advice.

His experience in enterprise IT architecture along with organisational change and management are built on his skills in engineering and technical design. Together these experiences and skills enable him to successfully plan and deliver transformational change.

He has had significant experience in the governance of IT services within outsourced environments and was IBM's global subject matter expert in Multi-Supplier Service Integration.

Roles

In recent years Peter lead the design of a solution for Service Management Integration for General Motors, one of the largest outsourced environments in the world. He stayed on the account as the global lead for Strategy and Architecture providing leadership to a team of approximately 70 architects around the world, guiding both the transition and transformation programs. The transformation initiatives delivered were responsible for considerable cost savings and reduction of project delivery timeframes.

Peter has also held the role of client technical advisor/account chief architect for the Westpac account, providing insight to improve the technical and operational outcomes of the IT organisation.

Throughout his career he has performed in leadership roles within IT transitions from insourcing to outsourcing, outsourcing to insourcing, supplier to supplier transitions, acquisition and divestiture transition and Y2K transitions. These transitions have been experienced both from the point of view of the client and of the supplier.

Examples of projects include the divestiture of a MLC by Lend Lease to NAB where MLC was successfully isolated to a single "bureau service" connection was within nine weeks of the announcement, when the initial estimate was 12-18 months. Another example was to provide the strategy, design and planning for the relocation of an international data centre from Thailand to Singapore for General Motors.
